Old Woman Kicks Out Both Daughters—One Was Pregnant, the Other Had a Newborn—Story of the Day

Woman Kicks Out Her Daughters on a Winter Evening Despite Their Pleas—But She’s Not the Only One Responsible for What Happened That Fateful Day
On a snowy evening, Mrs. Hansen expelled her daughters from the house despite their constant pleas. But she was not the only one to blame for what happened on that fateful day.
Mrs. Hansen’s life had never been kind to her. She lost her parents in a car accident when she was young, and her beloved husband passed away shortly after the birth of their second daughter, Kathy.
With limited education, Mrs. Hansen worked a small job and rented a modest apartment where she lived with her 5-year-old daughter Isabell and her newborn daughter Kathy. She worked hard to support the three of them and spent her free time with her children. She believed that one should always make time for their children, no matter how busy one is.
However, as her girls grew older, fate decided to test her once again.
Despite being a diligent and caring mother throughout her life, Mrs. Hansen received little recognition from her daughters. She held on to the hope that they would find jobs after university and help her out. Unfortunately, things turned out differently.
One day, after another hard shift, Mrs. Hansen came home to find an unknown young man in her apartment. Her eldest daughter, Isabell, introduced him with a blush as her husband.
Isabell brought Jack and told her from the door that they would be staying in the house until they could find their own place. Of course, the newlyweds did not even think about their living space. Isabell and Jack’s firstborn lived with Mrs. Hansen and Kathy in the tiny house.
Mrs. Hansen was, to say the least, “driven mad” but could not object. She once again trusted her daughter’s judgment. But as the house was small, disputes arose over time.
Initially, the daughters had one room, and Mrs. Hansen had another. Then, the younger daughter Kathy moved into her mother’s room, while the young family of her eldest daughter stayed in the other room.
At 60, Mrs. Hansen had grown tired of caring for the entire family and adjusting, but out of respect for her daughters’ feelings, she endured. After all, a mother will go through anything and make any sacrifice for her children. Mrs. Hansen was certainly no exception.
But one day, Mrs. Hansen had enough. She could no longer tolerate being taken for granted and transformed from a sweet mother who had done everything for her daughters into a woman who kicked them out.
It was a snowy evening. Mrs. Hansen had just come home from work and was warming herself by the fireplace when she suddenly heard the doorbell. When she opened the door, she saw Kathy with a guy.
“Why are you home so late, Kathy? And who is this young man?” Mrs. Hansen asked, astonished.
Kathy’s cheeks flushed. “Well, his name is Adam, Mom. He’s my boyfriend.”
“You didn’t tell me he was coming, Kathy,” Mrs. Hansen replied, hiding her annoyance at her daughters’ habit of bringing their lovers home.
“Oh no, Mrs. Hansen, it’s perfectly fine,” Adam interjected. “Can we come in anyway?”
Mrs. Hansen hesitantly nodded and let them in. She offered Adam a seat by the fireplace and put a kettle on the stove.
When she had the tea ready, she set three cups on the side table and handed Adam a cup. “So, what do you do for a living, Adam?” she asked, taking a sip from her cup.
“Well, I’m still looking for a job, Mrs. Hansen. But I expect to settle down soon,” Adam replied.
“Wonderful. So, do you still live with your parents?”
“Well…” Adam started to speak, but Kathy interrupted him. “Mom, Adam and I plan to move in together. His father is quite strict and told him that we can’t get married until he finds a job! And…”
“And?” Mrs. Hansen gave Kathy a confused look.
“Adam and I are expecting a child, Mom. I’m pregnant.”
Mrs. Hansen was stunned. “A child?! You’re not in good financial shape, and you don’t have a place to stay. How do you plan to raise the baby?”
“I said… we thought about moving in here,” Kathy said quietly.
“What? No way, Kathy,” Mrs. Hansen asserted firmly. “We don’t have enough space. Isabell and her husband have been here for about two years, and neither of them has found work. I’m still supporting them and don’t think I can do it again.”
“But Mom, if Isabell can live here with her family, why can’t I? Adam and I will surely find jobs. You can adjust the space in the living room or possibly in the kitchen. Adam and I will adjust in your room.”
Mrs. Hansen silently set her cup on the table and smiled at her. “You’re right, dear. We’ll have to make some adjustments.”
“Oh, really? Can we stay?” Kathy was thrilled.
“No, dear, you’re right that I shouldn’t have allowed Isabell to stay here!” Mrs. Hansen shouted at the top of her lungs. “GET HERE QUICKLY!!!” Isabell and her husband hastily left their room. “You need to get out immediately! Pack your things and find somewhere else to stay!”
Everyone was stunned. “But Mom, where do we go now? It’s snowing outside, and we have no money or alternative accommodation. Besides, I have a baby, and Kathy is pregnant,” Isabell expressed her discontent.
“Well, those are your problems, dear. I sacrificed everything for you, including my comfort. But what have you done? You’ve taken me for granted. Today, my younger daughter demanded that I sleep in the kitchen so her boyfriend could be comfortable. Do you really mean that? You don’t respect your mother at all?”
Suddenly, the entire room fell silent.
“Remaining silent won’t help you! You have one hour. Move!” Mrs. Hansen spoke again.
Isabell and Kathy tried everything to convince their mother not to throw them out. But Mrs. Hansen was stubborn, and that evening, Isabell and Kathy had to leave. However, ten years later, fate brought them back to their mother’s house.
One afternoon, the daughters visited Mrs. Hansen, weeping inconsolably. They said that when they began living on their own and raising their children, they realized how many sacrifices one has to make. They stated that it was difficult for them to adjust to their children’s needs while managing bills and everything else.
“Sorry, Mom, we had no idea how much you sacrificed for us. We understand how hard it must have been for you,” Isabell said. “Yes, Mom. Please forgive us. Actually, move in with one of us. We’re sorry we didn’t contact you even once in the past 10 years,” Kathy explained.
Mrs. Hansen broke into tears and embraced them. “Ah, my girls are finally grown up! By the way, when shall we all have a family dinner at my place? And don’t worry, we have enough space for all of us!”
The three of them started laughing, and from that day on, Mrs. Hansen’s grandchildren visited her often. They were once again a happy family.
What can we learn from this story?
Sometimes you need to be strict with your children so they can recognize their mistakes. If Mrs. Hansen hadn’t been strict with her daughters, they would never have realized how many sacrifices their mother had made.
Stop taking your parents for granted. The way Isabell and Kathy exploited their mother’s kindness was completely wrong.
