Shelter Dog Overlooked for 210 Days Because of His Fearsome Look Finally Gets a Chance
Every shelter dog dreams of finding a loving home, but sadly, some are overlooked due to misconceptions about their appearance. Take Biggie, for example—a dog whose “scary” look has made it challenging for him to secure a forever home.
This pit bull, estimated to be between three and five years old, has been residing at the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford, Connecticut. Despite his long wait of over 210 days, Biggie remains unadopted as potential families are deterred by his intimidating appearance.
According to shelter staff, Biggie is a medium-energy dog who loves hikes, car rides, and is best suited for families with children aged 14 and up. They describe him as having a joyful personality, noting that “he likes going on pack walks with other dogs and is gentle in the cat room.”
Despite these positive traits, Biggie is often passed over in favor of a “happy-go-lucky pit bull” due to his size and the way his ears appear. The shelter adds, “Biggie doesn’t realize he looks intimidating; he simply seeks affection.”
The constant rejection has clearly taken a toll on Biggie. Once eager to greet visitors with enthusiasm, he now spends his days lying sadly in his bed.
Laura Selvaggio Burban, the shelter director, shares, “While he enjoys day trips with staff and volunteers, returning to his kennel disheartens him greatly.”
