This 60s heartthrob was hooking up with groupies, partying with the Rolling Stones, and in AA by the age of 19 – look at him now

With his thick head of hair and boyish charm, Peter Noone was the epitome of a 60’s teen heartthrob. As the frontman of Herman’s Hermits, he captured the hearts of fans worldwide with his adorable face and equally adorable voice.

Herman’s Hermits shot to stardom with hits like “I’m Into Something Good” and “There’s A Kind of Hush (All Over the World),” outselling even the Beatles in 1965. Noone and his bandmates were living the quintessential rocker lifestyle, although, as he insists, without the drugs.

“At 16, 17, we could easily stay up all night, go on the rampage, then be up the next morning for interviews and gigs. It was a brilliant time,” recalls Noone.

Now, at 75, Noone is still on the road, performing as part of Britain’s Solid Silver 60s Show. While his fellow Hermits won’t be joining him, he’ll be sharing the stage with other musical legends of the era.

But life hasn’t always been a smooth ride for Noone. Despite his success, he faced personal challenges, including struggles with alcohol. It wasn’t until he attended his first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at 19, alongside his father, that he realized he needed to make a change.

“I needed to do it for my own sake,” says Noone, who has been sober for about 16 years now.

Despite the challenges, Noone found love and stability with his wife, Mireille, whom he married in 1968. They have a daughter, Nicole, and have been happily married for 43 years.

After leaving Herman’s Hermits in 1971, Noone’s career took a new direction. He appeared on Broadway in “Pirates of Penzance” and hosted the U.S. television music show “My Generation.” More recently, he served as a mentor and voice coach on American Idol.

Reflecting on his career, Noone says, “How lucky am I to still be doing this at 75? I know what I’m doing now, too. I’m not that shy little kid anymore.”

Indeed, Peter Noone remains as charismatic and charming as ever, proving that age is just a number.
