An unfortunate incident took place at a zoo in Nigeria, where a lion fatally attacked its long-time caretaker. The individual had been responsible for looking after the lion for an entire decade. This particular zoo is managed by a Nigerian university.
According to reports from the BBC, the caretaker was attacked by one of the lions while he was feeding them. Despite the efforts of other caretakers, the man could not be rescued.
The incident appears to have occurred due to the zookeeper’s oversight in failing to lock the door after feeding the animals.
Notably, the lion involved in the tragic event was born and raised within the confines of the zoo, never having experienced life beyond captivity.
